Most gowns need a little fine-tuning - whether it’s adjusting the length, bodice, or straps, and many dress providers will recommend setting aside £200 to £700 in your budget for these custom alterations to ensure a perfect fit for your special day.

Wedding Dress Fittings - Pricing

​

Each wedding dress is as unique as the bride herself, and alterations can vary greatly depending on the gown’s style, fabric, and details. 

• Shortening a Dress: from £150 - additional costs can depend on factors such as the number of layers, width, fabric type, and trimmings.

• Taking In or Letting Out: from £150 - additional costs can depend on the dress style, type of fabric, and intricacy of the work - if it's a lace, beaded or sleeved dress for example.

• Adding a Bustle to the Train: from £90 - additional costs based on the dress style and number of fastenings needed.

• Adjusting Shoulder Straps: Starting at £60, depending on the complexity of the adjustment.

• Inserting sewn-in Bra Cups – to improve support and enhance the overall shape and fit of the bodice: £30.

Wedding Dress Fittings - Schedule

​

Many brides book their wedding dress fittings several months in advance to secure preferred dates.

Wedding Dress To Be recommends the following timeline:

• First Fitting: 2-3 months before the wedding

• Second Fitting: 4 weeks after the first fitting

• Collection: Approximately 2 weeks before the wedding

For bespoke accessories or more complex alterations, please allow extra time for an additional fitting.

Flexible Appointments to Suit Your Schedule

• Wedding Dress To Be offers weekday and Saturday appointments, with flexible morning and evening options.

• Saturday slots fill up quickly, so it’s best to book these in advance.

• Tuesday: In-House fittings at Sarah Jane Bridal.

Consultation

While photos are helpful, it’s always best to discuss the details in person for the most personalised advice. Wedding Dress To Be offers a no-obligation, free consultation (30 mins) to discuss fit, alterations, accessory options, and provide an accurate quote. Please allow at least one month for alterations; in emergencies, services can be completed within two weeks, although an express fee may apply.

​Payment

​

Payment terms and methods are to be discussed during the consultation or prior to any services being booked. All made-to-measure and alteration services require a 50% deposit of the full price, with the final balance payable upon collection. Electronic payments are accepted.
